garden

Our garden was extremely overgrown until it had a massive haircut - or should I say hack job - yesterday. I loved it being overgrown where all the plants spilled into each other. Now it looks bare and barren. On a positive note, the garden now looks a lot wider than before!
p.s. my husband made the Buddha head out of left-over bonding (plaster type stuff for walls) - not bad, eh?

wooden furniture

What is is about old wooden furniture? Painted or unpainted, I'm addicted! The more flaky paint exposing older layers and colours underneath, the better. And plan chests - I'm constantly on the lookout for any unwanted ones. I'm considering forking out for one when I get my studio, which is not so very long to wait now!!

chilli paneer dinner

I'm supposed to be posting recipes on my cooking blog, but I've finally decided that it's easier to put everything on one blog, rather than have too many! I started out quite enthusiastically and made different blogs for different topics - art, cooking, childhood, homes etc. but it's too difficult to maintain, so one by one they've dropped by the wayside leaving only this one and my own art blog. So here goes, tonight's dinner: chilli paneer.

Ingredients:
1 pkt paneer
1 green and 1 yellow pepper (capsicum)
1 onion
ginger
garlic
2 green chillies
2 tomatoes
salt
ground coriander
turmeric
cumin seeds
dry mango powder
garam masala
sweet chilli sauce
fresh coriander

Method:
Chop the paneer into cubes and shallow fry. Remove from pan and place in a bowl of cold water. Fry cumin seeds, onion, ginger, garlic and green chilli until soft, add all other spices, salt and peppers, stir fry until peppers begin to soften. Remove paneer from water and add back into pan. Add tomatoes and sweet chilli sauce, turn the heat down and let simmer for a few minutes, until tomatoes are cooked. Throw on chopped fresh coriander before serving.
I made some chapatis to go with it (see photos) but you can also have it with rice. My son took some lovely photos while I cooked the chapatis!
