Fabric covered sofas

Busy, printed, colourful fabrics on sofas and armchairs are coming back and I'm very happy about it. One of my favourite past-times is to re-cover an old armchair or sofa with a favourite printed fabric. Following on the quilt theme I've found a few interesting patchwork covered sofas and armchairs too. I'll be keeping an eye out for old armchairs when car-boot sale season starts up again next spring!

Quilts

Lately, I seem to have become obsessed with quilts. About 4 weeks ago I decided that I had enough fabric scraps as well as some really nice fabrics to make myself and my daughter a quilt. Since that first thought, everywhere I look there are quilts! I found a few nice quilts on Anthropologie which are a great source of inspiration. Then they started appearing on blogs I read..... see below!
I'm sure it will be at least a year before I get a photo of my completed quilt on this blog. So for now here are the ones that I am inspired by.

Homemade pillow cases

I've finallly decided to cut up a bunch of old cotton punjabis from India - and make pillow cases! I'm so sick of my plain white pillow cases that have no colour or pattern, so from now on they're going to be all colour and interesting fabrics. This Christmas I'm also going to make some colourful quilts from all my fabric off-cuts to keep me busy!

Joanna Maclennan

These fascinating interiors have been photographed by Joanna Maclennan, a British photographer based in France. She has successfully captured the mood and atmosphere of these homes in the UK. One really gets a sense of the ancient roots of these houses... and the light in the interiors is just perfect!

Suzani

One of my all-time favourite designs is the Suzani. Suzanis come in a gorgeous variety of colours and designs, all based on the central round floral shape with highly stylised leaves and stems winding around. The simplicity and beauty of the traditional design is so attractive. Wouldn't it be lovely to have a suzani bed cover?
My older post on suzanis is here.
